About David

New York Bankruptcy Attorney David B. ShaevYou’re not on this site because you want to be – you’re here because you think there’s no other way to end your bill problems.  When you talk with me, you may find out that there are lots of other options.  And that’s precisely why we need to meet.

I am a bankruptcy lawyer.  But first and foremost, I am a proud New Yorker. I was born and raised in New York, so I’ve come to develop a deep connection with the people here. I became an attorney to help the industrious, hardworking, and honest people who have fallen on financially difficult times.

I’ve been practicing bankruptcy law in New York for over 29 years. Over the years, I’ve seen many things change, but one thing remains the same – when people find themselves in financial trouble, they look for someone they can trust to help them.  When you come to me for help, my job is to make sure this is right for you – not to put you into bankruptcy just because it happens to be the field of law in which I practice.

My core belief is that you succeed by treating others with fairness and respect. You’re a hard working New Yorker with a family to take care of, and you deserve an attorney who understands your unique challenges. When you sit down to discuss your financial situation with me, you’ll be treated as a real client with real concerns – not just another case number.

In case you’re looking for a pedigree to prove I know what I’m talking about, here’s some information you want to know.

I received my undergraduate degree at the Ohio University of Athens in 1971, and my law degree from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1974. Since then, I’ve been admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the State of New York.

I am a member of several professional associations, including:

Of course, all the professional memberships in the world don’t matter unless you can trust your attorney.  I’ve successfully handled thousands of bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 individual bankruptcies and Chapter 11 business reorganizations. I’ve helped countless people save their homes and businesses, and discharged millions of dollars of tax debt for individual and business clients.

When you’re ready, call my office at 646-722-8649 or fill out the form below.  We’ll set up a time to sit down face-to-face and work through your issues.  If bankruptcy is right for you, we can move forward.  And if not, you’ll get the information you need to make the right decision.
